Adam Hope joined as our accompanist in April 2026.
Adam is a conductor and educator, with a professional background as an organist and pianist, working across universities, conservatoires and specialist choral programmes in the UK and abroad. His work places a particular emphasis on musicianship and keyboard training, which underpin both his teaching and conducting practice. He works with the organ scholars at Hertford College, Oxford, and is a keyboard skills tutor working with music students at Hertford and Keble. He is also a singing teacher at Homerton College, Cambridge, where he coaches choral scholars.
At the Royal Academy of Music, Adam’s work brings together conducting, singing, keyboard teaching and choir training within a broad educational portfolio. He teaches choral conducting, singing and keyboard skills, and conducts the choirs of the Junior Academy. He is regularly invited to lead workshops and training for singers, teachers and professional musicians, and contributes as a tutor to the Hertford College Oxford conducting programme.
His work reflects a growing international profile, including collaborations with the Gold Sail Choir in Beijing and projects in Brazil with Inspirarte. Alongside his higher-education and conservatoire work, he also teaches A-level music, maintaining a clear bridge between advanced school-level study and undergraduate training. Previous appointments include Head of Choral Development at Peterborough Cathedral, Lecturer at Kingston University, and Musicianship Lead for the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, where he designed national training programmes.
In addition to his teaching and conducting, Adam works actively as an organist and pianist, appearing as both a solo and collaborative artist. He holds the ARCO diploma and studied at Kingston University, graduating with a first-class Bachelor of Music degree with honours, receiving the Music Prize for Academic Excellence and the Composition Prize. He later completed an MA by Research on scholarship, focusing on the music of Olivier Messiaen.
